I have to thank the offical Blueland Blog for completely explaining the Tkachuk deal. Let me just tell you, I had to read the NHL.com article about three times before I got it and even then, I was still a little confused. Hey! Don't get down on me, I'm not perfect!
Okay, so the Atlanta Thrashers have dealt Keith Tkachuk back to the St. Louis Blues. As you know/probably have read, that means that the Thrashers get back the first round draft pick for 2008. Basically, that's what it means, because even if the Thrashers do decide to sign Tkachuk (Which seems to be a lot more likely now) after July 1st (Sunday), the first round draft pick for 2008 is secure. For now, of course. But like Ben Wright said, St. Louis wouldn't have made that deal if they didn't want Tkachuk back. Personally, I like Tkachuk despite the overall dissmal performance in the playoffs. I think outside of that, for the month or so he played that he did a great job. On that note, I am in the do not sign Tkachuk camp. Sorry, like I said, I like Keith Tkachuk, but he will cost a LOAD of money! Thanks to nhlnumbers.com, Tkachuk's salary last year was 3.8 million. Give it a thought, I mean, I would rather have younger, faster guys with players like Kozlov, Holik...you know the list of the vets go on.
Anyway, I've got a massive head cold, I'll be back later.
