After losing a great D man to the Ducks today, one has to wonder, what's up with the Thrashers Defense? Admit it, you are going to miss Shane Hnidy, and really, there isn't a reason not to. I don't blame him for going to the Ducks, and I don't blame DWad for not making a better offer. DWad said there wasn't going to be much action after signing Whiter, Perrin, Klee and the re-signing of Slava Kozlov. Our lines seem pretty steady now that we have Kozzy back. Perrin will be "replacing" Jon Sim, and with the nasty comment that the Tampa Bay Sparks coach left Eric Perrin with, I think fans can expect an extra feisty Perrin. Having never seen White or Klee play, I really can't give must of a comment on either of them. I trust DWad though, not that much, but I do trust him farther than I can throw him.
So, let's talk Defense. We have Ken Klee, a veteran D man from the Avs, who, from what I've read (let me tell you, you just cannot completely trust the Internet) during the 2005-2006 season Leafs fans seemed to be pretty upset that Klee was traded. I read someone by one blogger that said it "killed the Leafs hope for the Stanley Cup". Wow. That's pretty heavy from a fan, usually fans don't say that unless they really mean it. Besides, he's doesn't appear to be an Andy Sutton type. Time will only tell with him, but...come on, there is a possibility that he could just be wonderful.
Besides Klee, it's X, Zhitnik, McCarthy, and we have Havelid. Oh yeah, all those possible prospects and such, but will they really step up when we need them too (and we need them too, if you ask me). I'm hoping that...well, we get a good handle on this, especially now that we've got the forwards (Sorry I said centers earlier, whoops.) handled, and all the holes there filled.
Oh yes, Prospect camp anyone? Believe it or not, I am extremely shy, so I probably show up until the big boys start practicing unless my dad will go with me to watch (Yes. I am still a dork. All you super knowledgeable hockey fans scare me a little.)
See you in Blueland,

aw, don't be shy about the practices! have you ever been to one? while it is kinda intimidating to be surrounded (at times) by people who are "more knowledgeable" than yourself (and i share the sentiment!), just make it your own experience. besides, i'm sure that a bunch of people who attend those practices are like you and i - hockey nuts who will do anything to feed the addiction, including seeing prospects practice for hours on end. it's just so great to be back in that atmosphere for a few hours... it reminds you how great hockey is!
